The Downtown Community Partnership of Galesburg once again brings together Galesburg families and downtown businesses for the annual Treat Street Halloween celebration. Families are encouraged to trick-or-treat at participating businesses from 11am to 1pm on Saturday, October 30 and participate in other ghostly gatherings throughout the day. Participants should start their rounds in Park Plaza to pick up a trick-or-treating bag and a map of all participating locations. Organizations without a brick-and-mortar location downtown will set up treat tables in the plaza as well.
Included in the frightful festivities this year is a mini-Halloween carnival in the Galesburg Public Library Storybook Garden from 10am-noon, eerie excitement at Central Fire Station from 11am-1pm, Prairie Players presentation of Little Shop of Horrors at 2pm, and Halloween Hoopla at Discovery Depot from 3pm-5pm. Discovery Depot and Prairie Players do charge entrance fees. All other events are free. Parental guidance is suggested at Little Shop of Horrors.
While picking up terrifying treats, families are encouraged to check out the window displays, photo backdrops, and other spooky spectacles decorating participating businesses. The business with the best Halloween décor will win $300 credit to Office Specialists.
