Prairie Players Civic Theatre is excited to announce auditions for the second production of the 2025-2026 season, The Man Who Came To Dinner, by Moss Hart & George S. Kaufman on Monday, September, 22, 2025 at 6 p.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 6 p.m. with callbacks if necessary on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 6 p.m. at the PPCT Theater, 160 South Seminary Street, Galesburg.
While on a speaking tour in Ohio, opinionated and arrogant radio personality, Sheridan Whiteside, injures himself slipping on ice and becomes an unexpected houseguest for a prominent area family, the Stanleys. Whiteside proceeds to make brash proclamations and offer his unsolicited advice to the family members. Both family and the community are expected to cater to his egotistical needs. When a romance begins between Whitesides’s assistant, Maggie Cutler, and a local reporter, Bert Jefferson, he interferes with that as well. The house is further turned upside down by a parade of visitors including fading star, Lorraine Sheldon, comedian Banjo and the British playwright, Beverly Carlton. Christmas may be postponed this year!
The comedy, directed by Anne Carman-Hendel, calls for a cast of 9 women and 14 men. There’s a role for everyone whether you are interested in being a main character or it is a good opportunity to audition if you have never been on stage before and are looking for a fun small role. The audition process will consist of cold readings from the script. Production dates are November 14, 15, 21, 22, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. and November 16 and 23 at 2 p.m.
