Oros Scores but Scots Fall at Knox on Tuesday

The Monmouth College men's soccer team got a second half goal from Paul Oros (El Paso, Texas) but ultimately fell 3-1 at Knox on Tuesday. The Fighting Scots (3-5-2, 0-3) and Prairie Fire played a scoreless first 54 minutes before four goals were scored in a 24-minute span.

With Knox on top 2-0, Oros scored off a free kick in the 72nd minute. Knox committed a foul with a yellow card in the build up to the far right of the field, just outside the 18-yard box. Oros put the ball into the far low corner of the goal for his second of the season. Luis Villa (El Paso, Texas) made four saves on the night but Knox put the game away with a third goal in the 79th minute.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Oros, a freshman, is second on the team with two goals this season ... Villa, Logan Corgan (Geneseo, Illinois) and Treyton Yi (Streamwood, Illinois) played all 90 minutes ... Alex Cruz (El Paso, Texas) had a shot on goal while Aimilios Ioannou (Larnaca, Cyprus) and Owen Murray (Cedar City, Utah) had shots for Monmouth ... Corner kicks were 4-3 in favor of the Scots ... Both teams were called offsides five timesKnox leads the all-time series 40-19-4 ... Monmouth's last win was in 2015 ... The Scots are at home on Saturday, at 1:30 p.m. against Lawrence.
