Maquon Historical Association

You won’t want to miss it! On Saturday, October 4, 2025, during the Knox County Scenic Drive former president, Abraham Lincoln will be paying a visit to Maquon. Fritz Klein as Mr. Lincoln

will give three presentations, one at noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. at Fruit Hill School. It has been said that “Klein’s portrayal of Lincoln brings this American icon to life. He bears a striking resemblance to Lincoln. His programs are thoroughly researched, historically accurate and blends Lincoln’s humor with his great humanity.” If you ever had a question you wanted to ask President Lincoln, there will be a question-and-answer period after each performance. This special free event is made possible by a hometown benefactor.

The Historical Association’s Cemetery Walk is back for a second year on October 18, (with a rain date of October 19) from 4 p.m. until dusk. Visitors will meet a Civil War drummer, a former schoolteacher and a frequent customer at Haskel Sulteen’s blacksmith shop, along with four other people from Maquon’s rich history.

On the afternoon of the “Walk”, stop at Fruit Hill School to purchase your $10.00 ticket, look at the displays and enjoy some refreshments. Then caravan out to the Maquon Cemetery where a

guide will meet you, take you throughout the cemetery and introduce you to costumed actors portraying people from the village’s past.
