Knox Women's Basketball Cruises to Victory Over Aurora

The Prairie Fire women's basketball team earned a 96-80 victory over Aurora in a non-conference match up on Tuesday night.

The Spartans held a 19-12 lead with 2:59 to play in the first quarter, but Knox used an 11-0 run to close out the period with a 23-19 lead.

The Prairie Fire added to their advantage with the first 14 points of the second quarter to bring their run to 25-0 and take a commanding lead.

Knox led 47-33 at halftime and maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half to cruise to victory.

The Prairie Fire shot 56.9 percent from the field and outrebounded Aurora 52-31.

Kylee Callahan led all scorers with 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting. Nyah Daniels tallied 20 points and Bria Medina added 18 points. Sarina Dacio tacked on 12 points and Loraya Rocha poured in 11 points to round out all five Knox starters scoring double-digits.

"This was a great bounce back game after a tough loss to Ripon on Saturday," said head coach Seth McDowell. "We were down early, but once we took the lead we never looked back. We played very well down the stretch and stopped Aurora's rallies every time."

Knox will return to action on December 18 as they play St. Mary's College of Maryland in the first of two games on their Puerto Rico trip.
