Knox Volleyball Falls to Monmouth

MONMOUTH - The Prairie Fire volleyball team dropped a 3-0 conference match at Monmouth on Wednesday night.

The Fighting Scots picked up a 25-12 victory in the first set, but Knox kept the second set close until Monmouth pulled away late to win 25-18. The Fighting Scots led the whole way in the third set and fended off a late surge by the Prairie Fire to win 25-18 again. Katie Anderson led Knox with 21 assists and 16 digs. Catessa Duran added 11 kills and 16 digs. "After a rough first set, we did show signs of life in the second set," said head coach Pat Barry. "Monmouth brought their best game tonight and we did not. We will have to step it up to finish the season strong." The Prairie Fire return to action as they host Grinnell and Central on October 16.
