Delayed Covid-19 Moderna Vaccine Shipment Arrives Feb. 25, 2021

Updated: Jun 21, 2021

Cottage Team Members Rescheduling Postponed Vaccinations.

(Galesburg, IL) – Galesburg Cottage Hospital received word that the delayed shipment of the Moderna vaccine for second doses should be delivered late this morning to the hospital. Vaccination team members will begin calling all those who didn’t receive their second dose of Moderna vaccine last week to reschedule the vaccination Friday (tomorrow). The delayed vaccination will be 7-days later than originally planned but still within the 42-day second dose time frame, as recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Two-hundred-fifty area residents awaiting the second dose of the Moderna vaccine on February 19th had their vaccinations postponed due to national weather-related shipment delays of the Moderna vaccine. The day before, a second dose clinic was held at Cottage in which 350 residents received their second dose with vaccine that had arrived safely just days earlier in a partial shipment. However, the second shipment of the required second dose vaccine was held up until today. As a reminder, all those receiving the second dose Friday should bring along their vaccination card to their appointment.

While Galesburg Cottage Hospital and Cottage Clinics’ thank community members for their patience during the delayed vaccination process, they ask that all those requiring the delayed second dose refrain from calling a clinic office and instead, wait for a phone call from a team member. Anyone who required a second dose on February 18th and 19th and has not been rescheduled by tomorrow morning, should call 343-8131.
