Davis, Barajas Score but Scots Fall to Red Hawks

The Monmouth College men's soccer team rallied with two goals but ultimately fell short on October 26, losing to Ripon College 3-2 on Senior Day.

The Red Hawks took a 3-0 lead with goals in the third, 29th and 37th minutes. The Scots got on the board just before halftime as Parker Davis (Burlington, Iowa) scored his first goal of the season. Freshman Omar Portillo (El Paso, Texas) picked up his first assist of the campaign on the goal.

Monmouth cut the lead down to one just seven minutes into the second half. Isai Barajas (El Paso, Texas) scored his first collegiate goal in the 53rd minute to make it a 3-2 Ripon lead. However, the Scots couldn't find the equalizer and neither team scored over the final 37 minutes.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Treyton Yi (Streamwood, Illinois) played all 90 minutes for the 14th time this season ... Ramon Aguilar (St. Louis, Missouri) also played all 90 minutes ... Goalkeeper Alejandro Zamarripa (El Paso, Texas) played all 90 minutes and made four saves ... Shots were 16-12 in favor of Monmouth and shots on goal were 8-7 in favor of Monmouth ... The Scots are 10-15-3 all-time against Ripon with a 2-1 win at home in 2022 ... Ripon won at home 2-1 last seasonMonmouth hosts Grinnell at 3:30 Tuesday in the season finale .... Saturday was Senior Day for Montgomery Schroeder (Harrisonville, Missouri) and Cam Winters (Silvis, Illinois)... Winters, who has been sidelined since 2022, made his season debut with four minutes of action.
