Women's Tennis Falls at IC on Wednesday

The Monmouth College women's tennis team returned to Midwest Conference action on Wednesday with a 5-2 loss at Illinois College.

Ivana Stefanova (Streamwood, Illinois) and Natalie Labicki (Antioch, Illinois) won 6-3 at No. 1 doubles but IC won the other two doubles matches to take the point. Kimber Calvert (Paris, Illinois) and Natalie Holst (East Moline, Illinois) lost 6-2 at No. 2 while Alayna McKinley (Rock Island, Illinois) and Tiah Riggs (Vincennes, Indiana) fell in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (4)..

Stefanova won at No. 1 singles 2-6, 6-2, 10-5 while Labicki lost 7-6 (0), 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Calvert fell at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-1 and Holst lost at No. 4 6-2, 6-2. McKinley lost 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 and Riggs rallied to win 0-6, 7-6, 10-6 at No. 6.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: With 23 career doubles wins, Stefanova moved into a tie for seventh on the Monmouth all-time list ... She is tied with Morgan Hoile and Amy Unzicker ... Stefanova and Labicki have six doubles wins on the season ... Riggs has two singles wins at No. 6 this season and the freshman picked up her first MWC win this evening ,,, The Scots are now off until Saturday, Oct,. 4 when they host Grinnell at 9 a.m. and Cornell at 3 p.m. for Senior Day.
