Women's Soccer Falls at Millikin on Tuesday

The Monmouth College women's soccer team dropped a 6-0 decision at Millikin on Tuesday night.

Millikin grabbed the lead with a goal in the seventh minute. After Bronte de Zwart (Adelaide, Australia) made a save, Monmouth put the next shot on goal four minutes later but Kiersten Medinger (Silvis, Illinois) had her effort saved. The hosts made it 2-0 in the 18th minute and two saves by de Zwart kept it a 2-0 game. Grasyn Schmidt (Lodi, WisconsIn) put a shot on goal that was saved late in the half but Millikin responded with another goal to lead 3-0 at the break.

After de Zwart made a save early in the second half, Monmouth got a shot from Mariah Hobson (Princeton, Illinois) but it went over the bar. The hosts scored twice in a 5-minute span to push the lead to 5-0 in the 64th minute. Millikin added another with just over 12 minutes to play. Hobson put a shot on goal with just under five minutes to play but the Millikin keeper made the save.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Avery Parks (Bloomington, Illinois) played all 90 minutes again for the Scots ... Brooke Gruby (Leonardtown, Maryland) logged 83 minutes ... The Scots played 21 players for the second straight contest ... Allison Griffin (Geneseo, Illinois) and Jackie Contreras (Peoria, Illinois) returned to the lineup and both started after missing the opener on Friday at Eureka ... Lauren Dellavalle (Peoria, Illinois) also returned to action for her 2025 debut ... Neither team had a corner kick in the first half ... Shots on goal were 10-3 in favor of Millikin as de Zwart made four saves ... Millikin leads the all-time series 9-0-1 with five straight wins,, ... The Scots are next in action on Saturday at Lakeland ... The home opener is September 8 at 5 p.m. against Blackburn.
