Toth Earns Second Team All-America in Hammer Throw at NCAA Championships

Three Monmouth College women competed in the NCAA Division III Track & Field Outdoor Championships this week. Junior Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) had the best result with a Second Team All-American finish in the hammer throw.

Toth surpassed 50m twice in the hammer throw on Saturday after an opening throw foul. Her second throw was 50.47m and that number held up for 14th place overall and Second-Team All-American finish. Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) finished 19th in the event with her best throw coming on her opening throw at 46.60m.

On Friday, Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) finished 19th overall in the shot put. Her throw of 13.02m in her second attempt was her best of the first flight but not enough to qualify for finals.

Boley scratched on her first two throws in the discus on Thursday. Her third throw went 37.21m and she finished in 20th place out of 22 competitors.

This was the first time Monmouth had three female qualifiers in the same season at the Outdoor Championships since they sent seven in 2014. Boley is the first Monmouth woman to qualify in two events in the same season since Briana Gardner ran the 100m and 200m in 2017. She is the first thrower in two events since Raven Robinson threw in three events in 2014
