Monmouth College thrower Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) finished 11th in the discus at the NCAA Division III Track & Field National Championships on Thursday. As a result he earned Second-Team All-American status for the outdoor season to go with his Second-Team All-American finish in the weight throw indoors.
Toberman was in the second flight, seeded 10th in the 22-person event. He threw 48.08m on his first throw, his third best discus throw of his career and the 2024 season. That throw had Toberman in sixth place after the first round. He threw 44.79m on his second throw and fell into eighth place. Ultimately, Toberman missed the finals (top 9 throwers) after a foul on his third throw left him in 11th place, eighth among those in the second flight.
Toberman caps an outdoor season that included three Midwest Conference Championships (discus, hammer throw, shot put), three MWC Field Performer of the Week Awards, two USTFCCCA All-Region selections, a school record in the discus (52.66m), the 2nd best throw in school history in the hammer (56.53m) and a PR in the shot put (16.04m). He was also All-Region indoors in the weight throw, won two indoor MWC Championships (weight, shot), three MWC Field Performer of the Week Awards and had the fifth-best weight throw in school history (18.77m). He will return next year with nine career MWC titles, five outdoor and four indoor, and three National Qualifier experiences under his belt.
