Tate Named MWC Swimming Performer of the Week

Monmouth College sophomore Cally Tate (Monmouth, Illinois) was named Midwest Conference Women's Swimming Performer of the Week on Tuesday.

Tate led Monmouth to a dual meet win over Illinois College on Saturday by winning all four of her events. As an individual, Tate won the 50 backstroke in 28.48 seconds and also won the 100 backstroke in 1:01.33. She swam the opening leg of the 400 medley relay in 1:00.93 as the Scots won by five seconds. She also swam the 3rd leg on the 200 freestyle relay with a team-best time of 25.77 as the Scots won by four seconds.

The honor is the first MWC swimming award for the Fighting Scots this season. The Scots are next in action at the season-ending Midwest Conference Championships hosted by Grinnell College Feb. 15-17.
