Scots Wait out Lightning to Complete Tuesday Track Meet

The Monmouth College men's and women's track and field teams battled through lightning delays and inclement weather during a home meet on Tuesday. The Scots competed against Grinnell, Illinois Wesleyan and Southeastern Community College in the meet.

MEN

Janius Taylor (Lakeland, Florida) won the 100m race in 11.23 seconds with Elijah Cherelus (Kissimmee, Florida) tied for second in 11.27 seconds and Johnny York (Elmwood, Illinois) in fourth in 11.28.

Adrian Outlaw (Galesburg, Illinois) won the 400m in a season-best 49.87 seconds with Da'Von Patterson (Ponte Vedra, Florida) in second at 50.07.

Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) won the 1500m in 4:14.57.

Logan Morse (Yates City, Illinois) was second in the 400m hurdles in 1:02.59 with Asa Stegall (Abingdon, Illinois) in fourth with a time of 1:06.30.

Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) won the hammer at 50.90m with Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) in second at 50.34m.

Toberman led a Scots sweep of the top six spots in the discus with a throw of 44.67m. Gunner Bryant (Curryville, Missouri) was second at 43.35m with Anderson in third at 41.80m and Jeff Schnetzler (Metamora, Illinois) in fourth at 40.19m.

Toberman was second in the shot put at 13.75m with Blake Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) in third at 13.30m and Bryant in fourth at 13.02m.

Tashawn Ruffin (Bloomington, Illinois) won the long jump at 6.33m.

Patrick Curry (Chicago, Illinois) led a 1-2-3-4 sweep for the Scots in the high jump. Curry and Morse both went 1.82m while James Gustafson (Chicago, Illinois) and Luke Reavis (Buena Vista, Colorado) cleared 1.62m.

Due to the bad weather, the pole vault and triple jump were not contested and the Scots didn't enter a men's 4x100m relay.

WOMEN

Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) led a 1-4 sweep in the discus with a throw of 43.87m. Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) was second at 38.87m, Abbie Johnson (LaHarpe, Illinois) was third at 33.71m and Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) was fourth at 33.23m

Boley also won the shot put at 13.21m with Braun in second at 12.58m and Alayna Earle (Clinton, Illinois) in third at 11.29m.

Toth took second in the hammer at 50.66m with Boley in third at 50.61m and Earle in fourth at 42.59m.

Makaiha Moore-Bell won the 100m race in 12.64 as Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois) finished second in 13.10.

Danielle Johnson (Annawan, Illinois) won the 1500m race in 5:20.92

Delaney Rexroat (Monmouth, Illinois) was second in the long jump at 4.66m while Chloe Allen (Monmouth, Illinois) was fourth at 4.21m.

Lauren Anderson (Cambridge, Illinois) cleared 1.40m as the only high jump competitor.

Natalie Gonzalez (Galesburg, Illinois) took second in the 200m race in 28.46 and also took fourth in the 100m hurdles in 22.38. Tatum Points (East Peoria, Illinois) was third in the 100m hurdles in 19.89 seconds and fourth in the 200m with a PR of 31.01.

The 4x100m relay team of Rusk, Moore-Bell, Rexroat and Gonzalez beat Grinnell to win the race in 50.86 seconds.

The women's triple jump and pole vault were not contested due to the bad weather.
