Scots Golfers Start Season at Highland Championships

The Monmouth College men's and women's golf teams started their season at the Highland Championships in the Quad Cities.

Newcomer Connor Watson (Macomb, Illinois) led the Scots with a 34th place finish. The junior shot 3-over-par 75 on Sunday and was a stroke better on Monday with a 74 for a total of 149 (+5). Luke Foster (Galesburg, Illinois) shot an 80 on Sunday and a 78 on Monday to finish 93rd with a 160 (+16). Thomas Henson (Geneseo, Illinois) matched Foster with an 80 on Sunday and shot another 80 on Monday to finish in 100th with a total of 162 (+18). The rest of the Scots were bunched together between 105th and 111th, led by Cole Reavis (Buena Vista, Colorado) with a 91-80-171 (+27).

CJ Push (Abingdon, Illinois) shot 88-84-172 (+28) one shot better than a trio of teammates. Newcomers Davis Rogers (Atlanta, Illinois) and Jase Whiteman (Andalusia, Illinois) both shot 173 (+29) while Collin Heslin (Nashville, Tennessee) matched them. Jacob Miller (West Point, New York) scored a 188 (+44) while Zackery Manley (Lincoln, Illinois) finished with a 192 (+48). As a team the Scots A team finished in 19th place while the B team was in 20th.

On the women's side, Lexie Campbell (Earlville, Illinois) led the Scots with a 62nd place finish. The junior shot a 96 on Sunday and a 107 on Monday for a two-round total of 203 (+59). Senior Annalyn Lovell (Oneida, Illinois) shot 108-106 for a 214 (+70) total. New to the golf team, Liz Waymore (Havana, Illinois) shot 120-113 for a 233 total (+89) in her first golf meet. Freshman Lucy Raymond (Galesburg, Illinois) shot 170-142 for a 312 (+168) total. The Scots finished 13th overall.

Monmouth is next in action when they host the Fighting Scots Invitational at Gibson Woods Golf Course on September 13-14.
