Sandburg Soccer Stays at No. 10 Nationally for 2nd Straight Week

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team remained at No. 10 for the second straight week in the latest NJCAA Division II rankings, released Monday.

Sandburg (9-1 overall, 6-1 Region IV) picked up a pair of blowout road victories last week, defeating Richard J. Daley 11-0 last Tuesday and Lake County 6-0 on Saturday.

The Chargers received 77 points in this week’s voting, seven points behind No. 9 Ancilla. They’ve been ranked in all seven polls this season and in nine in a row dating back to last spring. Sandburg has been ranked as high as No. 8 this season.

The Chargers’ next game is 4 p.m. Thursday at second-ranked Prairie State (9-1, 6-0) in a matchup of the top two teams in Region IV.
