Knox County COVID and Vaccine Update

Knox County, IL- According to the Illinois Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 Community Transmission Map Knox County’s level of community transmission is at HIGH. Areas of high transmission are considered by CDC to be those with greater than or equal to 100 cases per 100,000 people over a 7-day period. We know masking can help slow the spread of COVID-19 and its variants. The Knox County Health Department joins the CDC and IDPH in recommending that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, wear a mask indoors in areas of substantial and high transmissions.

As Knox County moves into a new stage of COVID-19 we will utilize the Illinois Department of Public Health statistical data. We encourage community members to seek data on the IDPH website. The Knox County Unified Command is announcing 68 new cases of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), between Tuesday, August 3, 2021, and Monday, August 9, 2021. According to IDPH the total positive cases in Knox County is 5,840. Due to federal privacy restriction, release of any additional information is prohibited. In every effort to reduce the risk of additional transmission, local public health officials are working to identify and actively monitor individuals who were in direct contact with these individuals.


According to the Illinois Department of Public Health today, Knox County has administered 46,843 COVID-19 vaccines and 23,167 county residents have been fully vaccinated. This makes up 46.23% of our population fully vaccinated. The Knox County Unified Command is hosting multiple vaccine clinics during the month of August. The Health Department offers the two dose Moderna and the one dose Janssen to those 18 years of age and up and the two dose Pfizer vaccine to those 12 years of age and up. Individuals under the age of 18 are required to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
