Congressman Sorensen Calls on Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to Resign or be Fired

Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) released the following statement amid news reports that an Inspector General report found Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth jeopardized the lives of U.S. Servicemembers by sharing highly classified war plans over an unsecured messaging platform.

“Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is dangerously unqualified to lead our brave men and women serving in uniform,” said Congressman Sorensen. “His recklessness in sending highly classified war plans over an unsecured messaging platform put our troops in danger. If anyone else had dared do this, they would’ve been fired long ago. As a member of the House Armed Services, I’m calling on Secretary Hegseth to resign now or be fired by the Commander-in-Chief.”

Congressman Sorensen previously called on Secretary Hegseth to resign back in April when it was first reported the Secretary shared classified war plans on an unsecured messaging platform.
