In two of the past four seasons, Quincy Notre Dame has ended Monmouth-Roseville’s season in a regional championship game, scoring a combined 11 goals in the process. But the Titans gained a small measure of revenge Monday night on the Raiders’ home turf, battling the hosts to a 1-1 tie.
It took a goal by QND’s Kwamen Tchapda with 5:43 left to forge the tie, after M-R had taken a 1-0 lead 14 minutes earlier on an Oscar Amador blast from 30 yards out.
M-R goalie Sailas Cung made six saves on the night, half of them outstanding diving stops, including a pair off the foot of QND’s Nolan Heck.
The Raiders held an 11-2 advantage on shots and a 4-0 edge in corners. Both teams ended the game with records of 1-5-1.
In the JV game, QND scored early in the second half and made the goal stand up for a 1-0 victory. The JV Titans, who posted a 2-1-1 record in four games at last weekend’s Oregon tournament, are now 5-2-1 on the year.
