Boys Soccer: Galesburg 1, Monmouth-Roseville 0

Ethan Oxley’s free kick goal in the 23rd minute was the only goal in Galesburg’s 1-0 victory October 3 over Monmouth-Roseville at Pattee Fields.

Setting up from 30 yards out in the center of the field, Oxley beat M-R goalie Isaac Garcia with a well-placed shot to the right post.

M-R netted what would’ve been an equalizing goal midway through the second half, but the play was negated by an offside call.

The visiting Silver Streak held a 9-7 advantage in shots in the hard-fought game and a 5-2 edge in corners. Garcia made four saves for the Titans, while Caleb Johnson had four for GHS.

In the JV game, Sebastian Aguilera Perez scored the lone goal off an assist from Yahir Serna as M-R topped Galesburg 1-0. Playing in his first game as goalie for the TItans, Sailas Cung posted the shutout.
