Danielle Beach (Geneseo, Illinois) netted a hat trick and added three assists as the Monmouth College women's soccer outclassed Eureka College 10-0 on September 10. The Scots (2-2-1) had six different goal scorers on the day, including three first-time goal scorers,
The Scots got on the board just over five minutes into the game as Beach knocked in her first of the night on a pass from freshman Taylor Freeman (Washington, Illinois). Just over a minute later, Beach turned provider and set up former high-school teammate Allison Griffin (Geneseo, Illinois) to make it 2-0. In the 16th minute, Nylea Cruz (Silvis, Illinois), the reigning Midwest Conference Performer of the Week, made it 3-0 off a pass from Beach. Freeman's first career goal gave the Scots a 4-0 lead before the 20-minute mark with Griffin adding an assist.
The Scots subbed out eight players after the fourth goal and went into half up 4-0. Just 30 seconds into the second half, Beach made it 5-0 with Cruz and Freeman adding assists on a great teamwork goal. Beach provided her third assist just two minutes later as freshman Kiersten Medinger (Silvis, Illinois) scored her first career goal. Griffin scored her second of the game in the 49th minute to give the Scots three goals in the first four minutes of the second half. Brooke Gruby (Leonardtown, Maryland) picked up the assist on the cross from the left wing.
Beach completed the hat trick in the 61st minute before departing for the night. Jackie Contreras (Peoria, Illinois) had the assist as the Scots took an 8-0 lead. Mariah Hobson (Princeton, Illinois) scored a thunderous goal inside the box off a pass from Natalya Main (Peoria, Illinois) and the teams agreed to a running clock for the final 26 minutes. Defender Avery Parks (Bloomington, Illinois) scored her first career goal in the 68th minute to finish off the scoring at 10-0.
"It was great to see us execute the game plan throughout tonight's contest," said coach Lucas Henderson. "Danielle and Allison got things going and then to see three players in Taylor, Kiersten and Avery get their first goals, that was special."
Bronte de Zwart (Adelaide, South Australia) got the start in goal and didn't have to make a save in 73 minutes of action. Freshman Emily Leshin (Elgin, Illinois) made her college debut and played 17 minutes in goal without facing a shot.
MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Beach rewrote the record books on September 10 ... She is tied for sixth in Monmouth history with three goals in a game, netting the 29th hat trick in school history, the first since Madison Walker had two in a week last season ... Beach's nine points are the second most in a game in school history behind Amy Horneck's 11 on Oct. 13, 2012 ... Beach tied her career high with three assists, tied for second in a game for the Scots ... She also had three assists last September against Maranatha Baptist ...She moved into 18th on the career points list with 41, 20th on the career goals list with 14 and 11th on the career assists list with 18 ...
